Life is filled with emotions Wherever you go they walk with you And all the time of every day We find ourselves wondering what we could do or say Our senses are there to guide us A heart that's part of a world so large And what you give is what you get Expanding still with each and every breath Happiness comes in moments Make them last as long as you can 'Cause when we share is when we shine And there's plenty of people who'd be happier if they tried But feelings can be quite peculiar Who knows why we do just what we do Sometimes we're mean but it never works 'Cause when we're mean, even if we get we want, it hurts Tears can make you feel better There should be no shame in feeling sad No matter how, how hard you try Sometimes the the only thing you can do is cry You must be brave to face your fears And for something to grow it must change We're meant to live and we're meant to die 'Cause without the darkness there would be no light Can you hear that friend inside the gentle wind You're both one in the same And holding close a thought so dear That softly whispers "I am always here" You're never alone in the way you feel We all know what it's like to laugh and cry It always is, and it always was And always will be done in the name... Of love

When I can't say that "I love you" I forget everything I'd ever learned Only to painfully bore you just for fear of speaking out of turn But saving face just ignores you and aggravates the mastermind Drains out all the sweetness from what it undermines When I can't say that "I love you" it's like turning the other cheek To avoid a head-on collision while screaming helpless in the back seat Snapping till picture perfect you avert your gaze to what gives you relief Whatever picks you back up and sweeps you off your feet When I can't say that "I love you" I've let myself become hypnotized By the ring of the vultures' permeating stare out of their beady eyes Truth seeker, true believer, but always spiraling out of control No natural ability just to let it go When I can't say that "I love you" is when I'm prickly to the touch to tap the vein of your virtue with a desperation that's just all too much The dirty inside projections that play like it's normal day to day If I could just say that I loved you then they would go away

Nobody Can 02:58
Who could be my everything when nothing is real? Oh, nobody can Take responsibility for the things that I feel Oh, nobody can Make all of my rock star dreams come true Oh, nobody can Bust down all the obstacles that keep me aloof Oh, nobody can Oh, won't you please help me out, out of this little pinch I've got a disease that makes me never very happy again I'm pushed through a sieve to be collected and displayed on a shelf Where you can love my inner demons as you love yourself Who could pay me compliments I'll choose to ignore? Oh, nobody can Be the rock of the relationship when I'm insecure Oh, nobody can Be a free spirit who just let's me tag along Love me unconditionally, then leave me alone Oh, won't you please help me out, out of this little pinch I've got a disease that makes me never very happy again I just can't believe that you rescued me from this sinking little ship When all my needs and co-dependencies were drowning with it

about

"The Emotions Song" came to me in a dream. I had a dream of a choir of children singing the song. I woke up at 2am to tape record the chord progression and a mumbled vocal melody. The next morning I spent a few hours on the lyrics and picked out the guitar line. It was first performed as a duo with Glenn on a December tour in 2018. And in December 2022 it was finally performed with a bunch of my middle school music students singing and playing the instruments! On this 7inch is a nice home recording I made with Glenn around that same time last year. It's a song that I have seen bring many different audiences to tears. May the recording have the ability to hit like our live shows.

Included on the 7inch are two other songs of a similar playful ilk. Their lyrics are pretty telling of my emotional inadequacies. Hopefully they are somewhat relatable.
